I was commissioned to create a river table desk with storage for records and a bench seat.
The walnut slab was oriented based upon the irregular desk shape and made into a river table. The cabinets were modeled in 3D for customer confirmation and CNC routed for precision. The joinery was done with a Festool Domino Joiner. Once assembled I painted the insides of the cabinets and gave them several finish coats of lacquer. The install included the cutting down of the slab to custom fit it to the desk and the space.
Walnut slab, FlowCast epoxy and Walnut faced plywood.
Tools & Process
A track saw to cut the slab, CNC router to flatten it and several sanders to get it smooth. The CNC router was also used for the cabinet parts and a Festool Domino Joiner for the joinery.
A beautiful wall to wall desk made exactly to the customers vision and sized for his equipment.
